When do you need a silicone sock? What problem does it solve?

I'm returning to 3d printing and there's all sorts of new things going on. One of which is a silicone sock. I suspect it's part of the engineering where you want to keep certain parts hot, and certain parts cold, and it assists with that, but I'm…

Should I put my models close together on the build plate, or space them out, to minimise suction?

On a resin printer, if I'm printing 5-6 similarly sized items (Warhammer figures, for example) should I group them close together, or space them far apart, in order to get best adhesion on the build plate and least suction on the FEP?

What are ways to avoid heat creep?

Printer configuration and many settings affect heat creep. Heat creep stopping extrusion doesn't necessarily involve melting the filament too high above the nozzle. All it takes is making the filament too soft. The filament may bend and wad up…
