Gridfinity is a standard racking/storage solution designed by Zack Freedman of Voidstar Labs.
Gridfinity is based around a 42x42 mm square base, which can be combined into larger groups or subdvided with partitions.
Sizings are denoted in width x depth x height in blocks of 42mm/42mm/7mm so a 1x1x3 is one square that is 21mm high, and is suitable for small parts.
A 1x3x12
The height is intended to be a multiple of 7mm to enable adjacent units to stack and lock together. A pair of x3 is the same height as a x6

Criticisms
There's no secure lids. If you drop a tray of small parts in many bins, you're going to have a bad day.
Excessive plastic usage.
Positives
Colour coding is possible, print different colours for each size (M2 is blue, M3 is orange, etc) or for each purpose (all washers are green, all bolts are in red bins, etc)
Rearranging is simple, as is inserting a new size you didn't have before.
