Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a thermoplastic polymer that is frequently used in engineering precision parts that require a high stiffness, low friction and dimensional stability.

Polyoxymethylene (POM) is also known by other commercial names e.g. Acetal or Delrin. It is a thermoplastic polymer that is frequently used in engineering precision parts that require a high stiffness, low friction and dimensional stability. Typically this material is used for injection molding of high strength parts (like gears for instance). Its low friction coefficient makes it very suitable to use as bearing material and simultaneously makes it hard to print with respect to get it to stick to the build plate.

POM filament not sticking to the build plate?

In the creation of the process of printing my own bearings to reduce noise, minimize play/tolerances and size the bearings to the actual size of the application, I obtained a spool of Polyoxymethylene (POM) or also known as Acetal or Delrin. This…
